Smell gas? Leave first, call second.

Don't flip switches or try to light the fireplace. Get everyone outside, then call 911 or your gas utility from outside the house. Once the gas company has made it safe, we can find and fix the problem.

Fireplace questions

Gas fireplace FAQ

How often should a gas fireplace be serviced?

Once a year, ideally in early fall before you start using it regularly.

Why does my gas fireplace pilot keep going out?

The most common causes are a dirty pilot, a weak thermocouple or thermopile, or a draft problem in the vent. A technician can test each one and tell you which it is.

What does a fireplace repair visit cost?

The dispatch fee depends on your town and starts at $119 in Wenatchee. A diagnostic fee of $72 to $130 applies, and the technician quotes the repair before starting.

Is soot on the glass dangerous?

Soot means the gas isn't burning cleanly. Stop using the fireplace and have it checked, because poor combustion can also produce carbon monoxide.

If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside first and call 911.
