Inspect

Electrical safety checks

A look at the panel, wiring and connections before you buy, sell or remodel, or when something seems off.

Burning smell, smoke or sparks?

If an outlet, switch or panel is smoking, sparking or hot to the touch, stay away from it and call 911 if there's any sign of fire. If it's safe to reach the panel, turn off that circuit's breaker, then call us. Don't open the panel cover yourself.

Why hire a licensed electrician?

  • Most electrical work in Washington needs a permit and inspection.
  • Mistakes behind the wall can stay hidden until they cause a fire or shock.
  • Panel and service work involves the utility connection.
  • Insurance and home sales can hinge on work being done to code.

Electrical questions

Residential electrical FAQ

Is Alpine Aire a licensed electrical contractor?

Yes. Our Washington L&I electrical contractor license number is ALPINAL797M6.

Do I need a panel upgrade for a heat pump?

Sometimes. A heat pump needs its own circuit and enough panel capacity. We check the panel during the heat pump estimate and include any electrical work in the quote.

How do I know my house needs rewiring?

Warning signs include very old wiring types, frequent tripping, warm outlets or switch plates, flickering lights and too few outlets for how you use the house. An electrical inspection tells you what's needed.

Can one company do my HVAC and electrical work?

Yes. Our electricians and HVAC crews work on the same jobs, so a new heat pump, mini-split or air conditioner and its electrical work are scheduled together.
