Panel upgrade, start to finish
What happens on a panel upgrade.
- Load check. An electrician looks at the panel, the service and what you run or plan to add, then explains the options.
- Written quote. You get the price before any work starts.
- Permit. Panel work in Washington needs an electrical permit.
- Install day. Power is off for part of the day while the new panel goes in and circuits are moved over and labeled.
- Inspection. The state or local inspector signs off on the work.

Does a heat pump always need a new panel?
No. Many homes have enough room for the new circuit. We check the panel and the home's service during the estimate and only recommend an upgrade when the load calls for it.
How long is the power off during a panel upgrade?
Usually part of one day. We tell you the plan ahead of time so you can work around it.
Do panel upgrades need a permit?
Yes. Panel and service work in Washington needs an electrical permit and an inspection.
Can you do the electrical and the heat pump at the same time?
Yes. Our electricians and HVAC crews work the same job, so the circuit, disconnect and any panel work are scheduled with the install.
