Each visit is billed as dispatch, plus a diagnostic fee for finding the fault, plus the repair and parts you say yes to.

Ellensburg dispatch

$279

Weekdays during office hours.

Upper county dispatch

$189

  • Cle Elum
  • Suncadia

Evenings, weekends, holidays

$330

After-hours dispatch, plus the diagnostic fee.

Diagnostic: $72, $100 or $130

It depends on whether tracking down the problem takes up to 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Neither the dispatch nor the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair. AA Comfort Club members pay half the dispatch fee and save 15% on parts and labor, not including gases and filters.

Describe the problem

Three common AC problems, and what causes them.

Telling the office which of these sounds like yours helps the technician arrive with the right parts on the truck, which matters when the drive is an hour.

It runs, but the air isn't cold

Usually a capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit, a condenser coil caked with dust, or refrigerant lost through a leak.

Tell us: is the outdoor fan turning?

Nothing happens at all

A thermostat fault, a tripped breaker, a failed control board or a safety switch that shut the system down.

Tell us: does the thermostat screen light up?

Frost on the lines or water by the furnace

Restricted airflow, often a dirty filter or coil, or a blocked condensate drain. Turn the cooling off and let it thaw.

Tell us: when was the filter last changed?

Before you book

Simple checks a homeowner can safely make.

  • Thermostat. Cool mode, set below the room temperature, fresh batteries if it uses them.
  • Breakers. Reset a tripped AC or furnace breaker one time only. A second trip means leave it off and call.
  • Filter. If you can't see light through it, swap it and give the system an hour.
  • Outdoor unit. Clear away grass, leaves and anything the wind has piled against it.

Please don't

  • Open the outdoor unit's electrical panel or touch the wiring
  • Add refrigerant or use a store-bought recharge kit
  • Keep running a system that's iced up or tripping breakers

Local conditions

Ellensburg wind is hard on an outdoor unit.

What the wind brings

Steady wind drives dust, seed fluff and dry grass into condenser fins. A clogged coil can't release heat, so the compressor works harder on the hottest afternoons, which is when it's most likely to give out.

How to stay ahead of it

A $179 tune-up before summer, a filter change every month or two in dusty weather, and a clear zone around the outdoor unit. The AA Comfort Club, $300 a year per system or $25 a month, includes a spring and a fall visit.

If your AC still runs on R-22

We no longer use R-22, and it is no longer produced. We can diagnose the system, and if it needs refrigerant we'll price a replacement AC and a heat pump so you can choose. AC installation in Ellensburg →

“I had Alpine come out to take a look at the AC unit that was not working correctly at my 90 year old Grandmothers house. Frankie Bastidas arrived right on time, performed great work, was very professional, and communicated what he was doing every step of the way!”

GOOGLE REVIEW · ★★★★★

“Alpine staff ordered the part as soon as I confirmed the estimate, and told me they expected a 2-3 week wait for it to arrive... Everyone, from the phone service and ordering department to Alex were prompt, responsive, polite, and efficient, doing exactly what they promised with no unexplained delays.”

What we did
Tested the Carrier ductless outdoor unit on site, quoted the repair price before any work, and completed the job

This repair was in Ronald, in Upper Kittitas County past Cle Elum, not in Ellensburg: we don't have an Ellensburg AC repair with a photo to show yet. We make the same no-cool calls in Ellensburg, Cle Elum and Suncadia. In July 2025 a homeowner in Ronald called because the air conditioning had stopped cooling. Our technician tested the Carrier ductless outdoor unit on site, and quoted the repair price before any work started. The job was completed, and the photo shows the unit at that visit.

Kittitas County questions

AC repair questions from Ellensburg homeowners.

How much is an AC repair visit in Ellensburg?

The weekday dispatch fee is $279 in Ellensburg and $189 in Cle Elum and Suncadia. A diagnostic fee of $72, $100 or $130 is added depending on time. The repair and any parts are priced separately, and you approve that price first.

Do you really come all the way to Ellensburg?

Yes. Ellensburg is about an hour's drive from our Wenatchee shop, and we serve Ellensburg, Cle Elum and Suncadia for repairs, tune-ups and new systems.

Is there after-hours AC repair in Ellensburg?

Yes. Our after-hours emergency service covers Ellensburg. After 5 p.m., on weekends and on holidays the dispatch fee is $330, plus the diagnostic fee.

My AC is freezing up. What should I do?

Turn the cooling off so the ice can melt, and check the filter. Ice usually means poor airflow or low refrigerant. If it freezes again after a fresh filter, schedule a repair visit.

Will a utility rebate help pay for an AC repair?

No. We don't know of any utility rebate for AC repairs or for an air conditioner-only system. City of Ellensburg electric customers with electric space heat may qualify for city heat pump or ductless rebates, so check with the city first if you're thinking about replacing the system.

What does an AC tune-up cost?

A tune-up is $179. Booking it in spring, before the first hot week, gives time to fix anything it turns up.
