Which heat pump fits your Cashmere home?

Your current heat decides most of it: the kind of system, the work involved and whether Chelan PUD's conversion money is on the table.

What heats the house now The usual heat pump setup Potential Chelan PUD incentive
An electric furnace with ducts A ducted heat pump with a new air handler, using the ducts you already have $3,300 for a first-time switch from an electric furnace
Baseboards or wall heaters A ductless mini-split, with a head in each area you want to control $1,600 in a site-built house, $2,000 in a manufactured home
A gas furnace Dual fuel: a heat pump for most of the season, the furnace for the coldest nights Usually none, since the house isn't leaving electric heat
An older heat pump A matched replacement heat pump and air handler No conversion incentive; $600 possible on a variable-speed system

Chelan PUD residential electric customers in Chelan County, on applications received April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027. New equipment has to rate at least 7.5 HSPF2 and 14.3 SEER2, and Chelan PUD approves the project before any equipment is bought.

A vertical air handler runs $500 less than a horizontal one, and more ductless heads, longer line sets or panel work add to the figure. The online quote asks about your home before it prices it.

We file the Chelan PUD pre-approval for you.

Chelan PUD takes the request from the contractor, so we send it once you pick a system and schedule the install after it's approved. Program rules are on Chelan PUD's heat pump rebate page.

Two ways to heat with a heat pump

All-electric or dual fuel?

Both heat and cool. The difference is what covers the coldest nights of a Cashmere winter.

All-electric heat pump

  • The heat pump carries the heating and the cooling
  • Electric backup heat in the air handler covers deep cold
  • Fits homes leaving an electric furnace, and the $3,300 Chelan PUD switch
  • One fuel and one bill

More on ducted heat pumps →

Dual fuel

  • A heat pump on top of a gas furnace you keep or replace
  • The heat pump runs most of the season
  • The furnace takes over on the coldest nights
  • Air conditioning comes with it

From first call to first cold night

How a Cashmere heat pump install works.

  1. A price to start. Use the online quote for a ballpark, or call and we'll set up a visit to your home.
  2. A system sized for heating. We size it for winter heating first, then check the ducts, the outdoor spot and the electrical panel.
  3. Chelan PUD pre-approval. If you're leaving electric heat, we send the request and wait for approval before ordering equipment.
  4. Install day. Our crew sets the outdoor unit, connects the indoor side and cleans up before leaving.
  5. Startup and walkthrough. We test the system and show you how to run the thermostat.

Keep it running with the AA Comfort Club: a spring and a fall visit for $300 plus tax per system a year, or $25 a month.

Cashmere heat pump questions

Before you switch to a heat pump in Cashmere.

How much does a heat pump cost in Cashmere?

A ducted heat pump with a new air handler runs $15,331 to $26,702 installed, before tax and incentives. Dual fuel runs $15,706 to $26,748. A one-head ductless mini-split runs $7,000 to $8,700.

Does Chelan PUD pay toward a heat pump in Cashmere?

It can. Cashmere is Chelan PUD territory. A first-time switch from an electric furnace to a ducted heat pump carries a potential $3,300, and baseboards to ductless carries $1,600 in a site-built house or $2,000 in a manufactured home. Chelan PUD approves the project before work starts, and we send that request for you.

My house already has a heat pump. Is there any incentive to replace it?

Not the conversion amounts, since those are for leaving electric resistance heat. Chelan PUD lists a $600 incentive for a variable-speed system, and we confirm whether it's open when we price your replacement.

Does a heat pump make sense if I heat with gas?

Often, as dual fuel. The heat pump handles most of the season and adds air conditioning, and the furnace covers the coldest nights. It usually doesn't qualify for Chelan PUD conversion money.

Do you install heat pumps in Monitor and Dryden too?

Yes. We install and service heat pumps in Cashmere, Monitor and Dryden, along with the rest of the Wenatchee Valley.
