What does your home use for heat now?
01
Electric baseboards or wall heaters

A ductless mini-split may add cooling and improve heating efficiency without installing full ductwork.

02
Electric furnace with existing ducts

A ducted heat pump with an air handler may be a natural whole-home upgrade.

03
Gas furnace or an aging AC system

Compare all-electric replacements with a dual-fuel system that keeps gas backup heat.

But will it heat my home in January?

Yes, a properly selected heat pump can be an effective choice here. The details matter: the model, cold-weather output, sizing, airflow and backup-heat plan.

Read: are heat pumps good enough for Wenatchee winters? →
  • Right-sized for winter. Sized for heating demand, not just summer cooling.
  • Appropriate backup heat. Depending on the system, that may be electric auxiliary heat or a gas furnace. We install both.
  • Ductwork and insulation. Airflow and home conditions affect comfort and efficiency.
  • Smart outdoor placement. Proper clearance, drainage and snow protection matter in mountain communities.

No guessing games

Frequently asked questions

Answers before you upgrade.

Do heat pumps work during Wenatchee winters?

Yes. A properly sized, suitably rated system can heat a home through our winters. Cold-weather capability and backup heat needs depend on your home, equipment and design. Many homes keep electric backup heat or a gas furnace for the coldest days.

Is a ductless or ducted heat pump better for my home?

It depends on your existing heat, ductwork and floor plan. Ductless systems are especially useful where ducts are absent or room-by-room control is wanted. Ducted systems provide central, whole-home comfort where ducts are suitable.

How much does heat pump installation cost?

A ducted heat pump with a new air handler runs $15,331 to $26,702 installed, and a dual-fuel system $15,706 to $26,748, before rebates. Eligible Chelan PUD customers converting from an electric furnace can take $3,300 off. Get your instant price.

Can I keep my existing gas furnace?

Often, yes. Many homes can use a dual-fuel setup, pairing a heat pump with a compatible gas furnace. The equipment pairing and controls need to be evaluated for your home.

Which Chelan PUD rebate could I qualify for?

Chelan PUD pays $3,300 for an electric furnace to ducted heat pump conversion and $1,600 for electric baseboard or wall heat to ductless in a site-built home. Eligibility depends on your utility account, existing heating system, equipment and approval. Ducted conversions require preauthorization before purchase. See Chelan PUD requirements.

Do I need to arrange the rebate paperwork myself?

No. We handle the Chelan PUD preauthorization and rebate paperwork for you. Chelan PUD decides final eligibility and payment.

Can Alpine Aire repair and maintain my existing heat pump?

Yes. We also offer heat pump troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance. Schedule service online.
