Ductless Mini-Splits in Leavenworth, WA

Most cabins and older houses around Leavenworth were never built with ductwork. A mini-split skips the ducts entirely: one outdoor unit, a slim head in each room you actually use, heat all winter and cooling for August. Chelan PUD may also chip in when it replaces baseboards.

What a mini-split costs, room by room.

The biggest driver is how many indoor heads you need. These ranges come from the ductless systems we've installed since 2024. The last column shows the figure if Chelan PUD approves its $1,600 baseboard conversion incentive for a site-built house.

Indoor heads Installed After a $1,600 incentive Often fits
1 head $7,000–$8,700 $5,400–$7,100 A small cabin or one open great room
2 heads $11,000–$13,500 $9,400–$11,900 Living area plus a bedroom or loft
3 heads $13,700–$16,500 $12,100–$14,900 A two-bedroom cabin with a main room
4 or more heads $17,800–$21,500 $16,200–$19,900 Full-time homes and larger rentals

Prices are before tax. Long line-set runs, wall brackets and electrical panel work move the number, so we price your place after a walk-through.

Why owners up here choose it

A mini-split fits the way upper valley places get used.

No ducts to build

Each head mounts on a wall and connects outside through a small hole, so log walls, vaulted ceilings and tight crawlspaces don't stand in the way.

Heat where people are

Every head has its own setting. Keep the bunk room cool and the great room warm, or shut a wing off when nobody's there.

Cooling comes with it

The same system cools in summer, so the window units and box fans can go.

Run it from home

Many systems can be set up with a Wi-Fi controller, so you can hold a safe setback all week and warm the cabin before Friday's drive.

Lower bills than baseboards

A heat pump moves heat rather than making it from resistance coils, so it uses less electricity for the same warmth. Your savings depend on the house and how you use it.

Easy to add to later

Start with the main room, and add a head for a bedroom or shop when the budget allows, if the outdoor unit is sized for it.

From first call to first warm weekend

How a Leavenworth ductless install comes together.

You don't have to be there for every step. Owners who live elsewhere can handle most of it by phone and email.

  1. Walk-through at the property. We count the rooms you heat, pick head locations, find a sheltered outdoor spot and check whether the electrical panel has room.
  2. A written price by number of heads. You choose the layout that matches how you use the place.
  3. Chelan PUD pre-approval. If you're leaving baseboards or wall heaters, we send the request and wait for approval before ordering equipment.
  4. Install day. A caretaker or property manager can let the crew in if you can't make it up.
  5. Controls set up and explained. We show whoever is there how to run each head, and set up remote control where the system supports it.

Buy nothing until Chelan PUD says yes.

Equipment bought before pre-approval can cost you the incentive. Program rules are on Chelan PUD's heat pump rebate page.

Snow country

Planning a mini-split for a Leavenworth winter.

Town gets noticeably more snow than Wenatchee, and January nights average near 20°F. Up toward Plain and Lake Wenatchee it's deeper still. How the system is chosen and where it sits matters as much as the brand.

  • Rated for cold. We choose models that keep heating well below freezing, sized to the cabin's heat loss rather than its square footage alone.
  • Mounted high. A wall bracket or tall stand keeps the outdoor unit above drifts and out of the path of roof slides.
  • Drained safely. Defrost water is routed where it won't freeze across a deck or doorway.
  • A plan for the coldest nights. We talk through backup heat for a deep cold snap before install day.

Leavenworth ductless questions

Before you put a mini-split in a mountain home.

How much does a ductless mini-split cost in Leavenworth?

About $7,000 to $8,700 installed for one indoor head, $11,000 to $13,500 for two, $13,700 to $16,500 for three, and $17,800 to $21,500 for four or more, before tax and before any Chelan PUD incentive.

Will Chelan PUD help pay for a mini-split in Leavenworth?

If the house is leaving baseboards or wall heaters, possibly. Chelan PUD lists a potential $1,600 for a site-built house, $2,000 for a manufactured home and $1,000 for buildings with five or more units, on applications received April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027. A place that already heats with a heat pump isn't eligible. Chelan PUD must approve the project first, and we send that request.

Does the incentive cover a cabin I only use on weekends?

We confirm that with Chelan PUD during pre-approval, before you buy anything. The request goes under the account the property is billed to.

Can a mini-split keep a cabin warm in a Leavenworth January?

Yes, when it's a cold-climate model sized to the cabin's heat loss and the outdoor unit is mounted above the snow. We also plan backup heat for the coldest stretches.

How many indoor heads will my place need?

Usually one for each area you want to control on its own: the main living space, then bedrooms or a loft. An open single-room cabin may need just one. We settle the count on the walk-through.

What does upkeep cost for a ductless system?

The AA Comfort Club covers a spring and a fall visit for $300 plus tax per system a year, or $25 a month. Systems with more than two indoor heads add $30 per extra head each year.
