Ductless Mini-Splits in Ellensburg, WA

Ellensburg is windy, its winters are cold and its summers are hot and dry. If your house relies on baseboards, wall heaters or a window unit, a ductless mini-split can take over heating and cooling one room at a time, without cutting ducts into finished walls. Here's what it costs and how the city's electric rebates work.

Who's your electric utility? Start with that ↓

City of Ellensburg incentives

Your electric bill decides the rebate question.

Ellensburg addresses aren't all on the same utility. Look at who sends your power bill before you count on any rebate.

City of Ellensburg electric customers

  • The city offers conservation rebates on heat pumps and ductless systems
  • They're for homes that currently use electric space heat
  • The city doesn't publish the amounts
  • Check your eligibility with the city before you buy equipment

Power from another utility

  • Many homes outside city limits buy power from Kittitas PUD or another provider
  • We don't quote a rebate for those accounts
  • Ask your utility directly what it offers, if anything
  • The installed prices below apply either way

Call the city first, then sign.

Confirm eligibility and any equipment requirements with the City of Ellensburg before you commit. Bring what they tell you to the estimate, and we'll quote equipment that matches. Chelan PUD's incentives don't apply in Kittitas County.

The estimate visit

What we look at in an Ellensburg house.

Our crew drives over from the Wenatchee shop, so we plan the visit to answer every question in one trip.

  • Where the wind hits. The outdoor unit goes on the sheltered side of the house where possible, raised off the ground on a stand or bracket.
  • Each room's heat loss. Older homes near downtown and newer houses on the edge of town lose heat very differently, so heads are sized room by room.
  • Head placement. High on a wall with a clear throw across the room and a short route outside for the lines and drain.
  • Electrical capacity. Whether the panel can take a new circuit. Our own electricians handle panel work when it's needed.
  • What stays as backup. Whether to keep a few baseboards for the coldest nights.

Cost and what's included

Ductless prices for Ellensburg homes.

Installed ranges from the ductless systems we completed from 2024 to October 2026. The number of indoor heads sets most of the cost.

Indoor heads Installed, before tax Common Ellensburg use
One $7,000–$8,700 A home office, bonus room, garage or shop
Two $11,000–$13,500 Living area plus one bedroom

Why it fits Ellensburg

Reasons owners here choose ductless.

No duct project

Houses built around baseboards have no ducts to reuse. Heads skip that work entirely.

Cooling, finally

The same system cools in summer, so window units can come out.

Quiet indoors

Heads run at low speed most of the time, which suits bedrooms and study spaces.

Less electricity than resistance heat

A heat pump moves heat rather than making it, so it uses less power for the same warmth. Actual savings depend on the house.

Each room its own setting

Turn down the spare room, keep the living room warm.

Warranty in writing

The manufacturer's parts warranty (up to 10 years on Carrier) plus Alpine Aire's own one year on parts and labor.

This job was up the valley in Cle Elum, not in Ellensburg: we don't have an Ellensburg ductless install with photos to show yet. In April 2025 our crew installed a single-zone mini-split there. We install ductless systems in Ellensburg and across the Kittitas Valley.
