Standby generators for winter outages.
A wind storm or an ice load on the lines can take the power out for hours. For homes on a well, with medical equipment, or in the hills above the valley, an automatic standby generator keeps the essentials running.
An automatic transfer switch senses the outage, starts the generator and switches your chosen circuits over, then switches back when utility power returns.
We go through what has to stay on, such as the furnace or heat pump, a well pump, the fridge and lights, and size the unit and transfer switch to match.
A standby generator ties into your home's electrical system, so it's wired to code and inspected where Washington requires it.
We also repair generators and the connections between the generator and the house.
Refer a friend. When someone you refer has a new automatic standby generator installed, you get $250. How the referral program works

From first call to final check
How an electrical job with us works.
- You call or send the form. Tell us your town and what's happening, or what you're planning to add.
- We look before we price. For a repair, the electrician finds the cause. For a project, we look at the panel, the service and the route the wiring will take.
- You get the price first. Nothing is replaced or installed until you've seen the cost. Estimates for planned projects are free.
- Permit and inspection where required. Most panel, service and new-circuit work in Washington needs an electrical permit and an inspection.
- Work done to code, then tested. We confirm every circuit we touched works and walk you through what changed.
Heating, cooling and the wiring together
Why one company for HVAC and electrical saves you a step.
On a new system install
- Our estimator checks the panel and service size during the same visit.
- Any new circuit, disconnect or panel work is in one written price.
- The electrician and the installers are on the same schedule, so the system isn't sitting unwired.
- If something on the electrical side turns up mid-job, the person who can fix it already works with the crew.
Switching off electric heat?
Homes moving from an electric furnace to a ducted heat pump often need panel work, and the conversion may qualify for a utility incentive.
Chelan PUD customers: a potential utility incentive of $3,300 for a qualifying first-time ducted heat pump conversion from an electric furnace, with up to $4,300 for income-qualified households. Alpine handles the Chelan PUD pre-approval paperwork.
Rebates are provided and approved only by Chelan PUD. Amounts and eligibility are subject to change. Ask us about standard heat pump rebates.
Douglas PUD customers(East Wenatchee, Rock Island, Orondo): Douglas PUD does not offer rebates at this time. Utility rebates explained
Smoke, sparks, or a hot or buzzing panel?
Keep people away from it and call 911 if you see smoke or flames. If you can reach the panel safely, switch off that circuit's breaker. Don't take off the panel cover or outlet plates. Once everyone is safe, call us at (509) 436-1178 to schedule an electrician.
Not sure what to ask for?
Match what you're seeing to the right visit.
Describe it in your own words when you call. This table just helps you know which kind of appointment you're booking.
| Your situation | Usually a job for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| A breaker trips again right after you reset it | Electrical repair | Leave it off until it's checked. Repeated resets can hide a short or an overload. |
| You're adding a heat pump, AC or mini-split | HVAC install with our electrician | We look at panel space during the heat pump estimate and include any wiring in the same quote. |
| The panel is full, old, or trips when big appliances run | Panel upgrade | Panel and service work in Washington needs an electrical permit and an inspection. |
| Outages leave you without heat, a well pump or a freezer | Standby generator | An automatic standby unit starts on its own; size depends on which circuits you want covered. |
| An older house with few outlets and warm switch plates | Inspection, then rewiring if needed | We plan wall openings and the order of work with you before anything starts. |
| Cold tile floors in a bathroom remodel | Electric radiant floor | Easiest to add while the floor is open, with its own thermostat. |

Electrical services FAQ
Is Alpine Aire a licensed electrical contractor?
Yes. Alpine Aire holds Washington L&I electrical contractor license ALPINAL797M6, and our electrical work is done by our own electricians, not subcontractors.
What electrical services do you offer?
Troubleshooting and repair, panel and service upgrades, rewiring, new outlets and circuits, electrical inspections, automatic standby generators, electric radiant floor heat, and the wiring for heat pumps, mini-splits and air conditioners.
Do you give free estimates on electrical work?
Yes. Estimates for planned projects such as panel upgrades, generators and rewiring are free. For a repair, the electrician finds the cause first and gives you the price before doing the work.
Does electrical work in Washington need a permit?
Most of it does. Panel changes, service upgrades, new circuits and generator hookups generally need an electrical permit and an inspection.
Will my house need a new panel for a heat pump?
Not always. Many panels have room for the new circuit. We check panel space and service size during the heat pump estimate and put any electrical work in the same price.
Do you install whole-house standby generators?
Yes. We install automatic standby generators with a transfer switch, sized to the circuits you want to keep running during an outage, and we repair existing generator connections.
Which towns do your electricians serve?
The same towns as our heating and cooling service, including Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Leavenworth, Chelan, Manson, Entiat, Quincy, Ephrata, Ellensburg and Cle Elum.
