Heat Pump Installation in Ephrata, WA

Ephrata gets the dry heat of the Columbia Basin in summer and cold, windy weather in winter. One heat pump can carry both seasons. The rebate question works differently here: Grant PUD supplies the power, and its rules turn on what heats your house right now.

Grant PUD incentives for Ephrata

Grant PUD's heat pump rule, in plain terms.

Since January 1, 2026, Grant PUD heat pump rebates are for conversions.

Grant PUD says its heat pump rebates now go to homes switching to a heat pump from a different heating system. Swapping an existing heat pump for a new one does not qualify. Grant PUD sets the amount and the paperwork, so we don't list a number on this page.

Projects that may count as a conversion

Potential utility incentive

  • An electric furnace replaced by a ducted heat pump
  • Baseboards or wall heaters replaced by a ductless mini-split
  • Gas or propane heat: ask Grant PUD how it treats the switch
  • In every case, confirm the amount and the form with Grant PUD before the install

Projects that don't

  • An old heat pump taken out and a new heat pump put in
  • Our prices for that job assume no rebate at all
  • Chelan PUD amounts you may have seen elsewhere don't apply in Grant County

What to know first

What an Ephrata heat pump is up against.

The same system has to cool through a long dry summer and heat through cold, breezy nights, with dust in the air for a good part of the year.

Summer heat

Whole-house cooling, sized so the bedrooms cool down too, not only the room with the thermostat.

Winter wind and cold

We size for the heating load first and add electric heat strips, or a furnace in dual fuel, for the hardest nights.

Blowing dust

Dusty months load up filters and outdoor coils faster. We'll show you how often to check yours.

Where the unit sits

A level pad on the side of the house that takes the least wind, with open space all around for airflow.

Ephrata and Soap Lake are in our $279 dispatch zone, the outer ring of our service area. New system installs are planned the same way as anywhere else we work, and estimates for a new system are free.

Cost and what's included

What a heat pump costs in Ephrata.

Installed prices, with no Grant PUD rebate taken off. If your project turns out to be a qualifying conversion, Grant PUD handles that money separately.

System Installed price Typical starting point
Ducted heat pump + air handler $15,331–$26,702 An electric furnace with usable ducts, or a worn-out heat pump ready to be replaced.
Dual fuel
heat pump + gas furnace
$15,706–$26,748 A gas-heated house that wants cooling and a furnace for deep cold.
Single-zone ductless
one indoor head
$7,000–$8,700 A main living area, a home office or a shop.
Multi-zone ductless
two or more indoor heads
$11,000–$21,500 A house heated room by room with baseboards or wall heaters.

The bottom of each range is a smaller, simpler system and the top is a larger, higher-efficiency one. Ducted and dual fuel ranges match our online store; ductless ranges come from our completed installs. Get a figure for your house with the instant price tool.

Three system types, one choice for your house

We install Carrier, Lennox, Bosch, Mitsubishi and other leading brands. Alpine Aire is a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer.

Ducted

An outdoor heat pump and an indoor air handler, sending air through your existing ducts.

For homes with sound ductwork.

Ductless

Wall-mounted indoor heads, each heating and cooling its own space, fed by one outdoor unit.

For homes without ducts. Ductless systems →

Dual fuel

A heat pump for most of the year, with a gas furnace that steps in when it gets really cold.

For homes already on gas heat.

How the install works

How an Ephrata heat pump project runs.

At the free estimate, our comfort advisor checks:

  • What heats the house today, which settles the Grant PUD question
  • The size and condition of any ductwork
  • Electrical panel space for the new equipment
  • A good spot for the outdoor unit, out of the worst wind
  • Rooms that never cool down in July
  • Rooms that stay cold in January
  1. Price and plan. You get a written price, and it's approved by you before any work begins.
  2. Grant PUD check. If your project is a conversion, confirm the rebate with Grant PUD before the install. We'll give you the equipment details it asks for.
  3. Install day. NATE-certified technicians set the equipment, run heating and cooling, and show you the thermostat.
  4. Warranty. The manufacturer's parts warranty (Carrier's runs up to 10 years) comes with our own 1 year parts and labor.

Ephrata questions

Heat pumps and conversions: Ephrata FAQ.

Does Grant PUD offer a heat pump rebate in Ephrata?

Grant PUD says that since January 1, 2026, its heat pump rebates are for homes converting to a heat pump from a different heating system. Grant PUD sets the amount and approves the rebate, so check the current figure and form with Grant PUD before your install.

I'm replacing an old heat pump. Is there a Grant PUD rebate?

No. Under Grant PUD's 2026 rule, replacing an existing heat pump does not qualify. Our installed prices already assume no rebate for that kind of job.

Do Chelan PUD heat pump incentives apply in Ephrata?

No. Chelan PUD's incentives are for Chelan PUD customers in Chelan County. Ephrata homes are on Grant PUD, which runs its own program.

How much does heat pump installation cost in Ephrata?

A ducted heat pump with a new air handler runs $15,331 to $26,702 installed, and dual fuel runs $15,706 to $26,748. Single-zone ductless runs $7,000 to $8,700 and multi-zone ductless $11,000 to $21,500. Estimates for a new system are free.

What does a heat pump repair visit cost in Ephrata?

Dispatch to Ephrata is $279. A diagnostic fee of $72, $100 or $130 is added depending on how long it takes to find the problem, and the repair is priced before work starts. After 5 pm, on weekends and on holidays, dispatch is $330 plus the diagnostic fee. These fees are not credited toward the repair.

Will a heat pump keep an Ephrata house warm in winter?

Yes, when it's sized for the heating load and backed up for the coldest nights. We use cold-climate equipment with electric heat strips, or a gas furnace in a dual fuel system, and place the outdoor unit away from the worst wind.

Do you also serve Soap Lake?

Yes. Soap Lake is in the same $279 dispatch zone as Ephrata, and it's on our service-area list for installs, repairs and maintenance.

How do I keep a heat pump healthy with all the dust?

Check the filter often in dusty months, keep weeds and debris away from the outdoor unit, and have the system serviced each spring and fall. The AA Comfort Club covers both visits for $300 per system a year or $25 a month, with half-off dispatch and 15% off parts and labor (gases and filters excluded).
